Disha conducted its annual induction cum training program on the 30th June, 2018 in Mythic Society. 27 enthusiastic participants from different walks of life actively participated in the training program. The program was well received by all the participants.
The program started at 9:30am with a brief welcome and a song –“Navella Bharatiyaremba Bhava Moodali” which emphasized on the message of bringing harmony in the nation. This was followed by a brief introduction of participants. An activity to set the expectations from the participants was conducted and the same was recorded.
Participants were divided into four small groups and were assigned topics related to the nation, education system, youth mindset and relevance of value education. Group members brainstormed and presented their views very beautifully. This was concluded with a brief introduction of Disha as a concept and organization. A brief report of activities of Disha was also presented.
Mock Disha – Volunteers experienced the feel of Disha sessions as students and were highly motivated. Mock Disha sessions included Yoga, Counselling, Quiz, AV interaction and a talk. This was a learning experience for all the volunteers and they had fun too.
Post-lunch session, few students shared their views on how Disha has impacted on their lives and few volunteers shared their journey with Disha family. This was truly an inspiration for the new volunteers to be a part of Disha and got convinced to be a part of our organization.
Hands-on training was given to all volunteers on the session they chose and exhibited their skills and comprehension during the session. Disha team was overwhelmed by the presentations of new volunteers and the session created a great hope that these volunteers can convey the message to students very well.
A session to map volunteers based on their time commitment, interest and skills was facilitated in which all participants expressed their strong willingness to serve the nation by becoming a part of Disha. Finally, the day concluded with a strong message of power of volunteering towards national development.
