At the core of the NSS is its slogan “Not me but you” which represents a message of selfless service to the nation. Drawing on Swami Vivekananda’s teachings of using “Tyaga” and “Seva” as instruments of social change, this program is meant to inspire NSS cadets to understand their role better- so that they can raise their performance to higher levels. Disha Bharat’s intervention enables NSS volunteers to translate their spirit of Seva to action. This program thus acts as a trigger to kindle in students a sense of social responsibility. For NSS students, Disha Bharat thus acts as a bridge to traverse the journey from the spirit of Seva to Seva in action in the real world.
