Crisis can strike anyone, anytime, anywhere. You can never anticipate it and that’s the reason why your reaction to it is an instinctive one. Some people think that crisis can serve to build character and maybe it’s true, but that happens much, much later, after the crisis has passed, and only if one is inclined to learn by introspection and insight. At the moment when catastrophe strikes, you can only exhibit the character ingrained in you. Seen someone panicking when things go wrong? That person is likely to be of an anxious temperament. The people who stay calm when disaster strikes? They’ve probably spent a lifetime cultivating that composure.
Real Padman – Arunachalam Muruganatham
A school dropout from a poverty-stricken family in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore is an unlikely social crusader tackling one of India’s most menacing health crisis — menstrual hygiene. But Arunachalam Muruganantham is nothing less than an anomaly. While most men squirm at the mention of menstruation or sanitary napkins, Muruganantham just couldn’t bear to see his wife use a dirty rag for her periods. And today, here he is, helping millions of Indian rural women afford low-cost sanitary napkins. He believes that our country cannot be called ‘developed’ if we cannot make mothers of this nation healthy. ‘By looking at Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi, we cannot say our nation is developed.

Swami Vivekananda, one of the greatest visionaries of the world, had great faith in channelizing the youth power towards nation building. Train the Trainers Program – Report
We take pleasure in informing you that DISHA conducted a well-appreciated Train the Trainer program on 4th and 5th June 2016 at Rashtrothana Parishat, Chamrajpet. The training program saw an enthusiastic participation from 35 people, from a diverse background right from software professionals to homemakers, from different parts of Karnataka such as Bengaluru city, Belagavi, Tiptur, Gulbarga, Chickballapur, Vijayapur, Koppala and Bengaluru Rural. The participants were sensitized towards need for an organization like Disha,which creates awareness among youth on country, culture and personality development based on values. Vivekananda Jayanthi 2016 – Report of Inter-collegiate competitions
Namaste, DISHA is happy to update you about the overwhelming response we received for the 9th Annual Vivekananda Jayanthi Celebrations Grand Finale. On January 27th, Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women (MLACW) and DISHA jointly organized inter-collegiate competitions on account of Swami Vivekananda Jayanthi. The competitions included “My action plan for the holistic development of a student” a presentation by teachers and three competitions for students namely a speech on “Transforming Indians to Transform India”,dumb charades on topic India and Group song (patriotic theme). Vivekananda Jayanthi : Inter Collegiate Competitons – 2015
Date : Jan 16, 2015 Time : 10:30am – 2:00pm MLACW in association with DISHA conducted Inter-Collegiate competitions for students of UG and PG courses. There was an overwhelming response from the student community with 36 students from over 20 colleges participating in the speech competition and 65 teams(130 students) from 20 colleges participating in the collage contest. Speaking on the topic “What it means to be a Hero?”, students exhibited a remarkable ability to articulate their thoughts with clarity and creativity. DISHA Workshops for Final Year Students of Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women
We are very happy to inform you about the workshops that we had since last 10 days. DISHA organized 6 one-day workshops for all the final year students of Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women starting from July 3 to July 10. We are very happy that the way students received the message and many even took an oath to change their life after the same. Every day started with a song, followed by a yoga session which included basic asanas, pranayama and dhyana which will boost student’s physical and spiritual quotients. This was followed by counselling session where students became emotionally strong and got a positive attitude towards life.
